Outline

Polyphenylene sulfide(PPS) has excellent Heat and Chemical resistance.
Only TOYOBO produces PPS fibers with Trilobal cross section in the World and sells them for bagfilter usage mainly.

Feature

  • PROCON® is PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide) fiber developed by Toyobo.
  • PROCON® fiber has excellent chemical resistance against acids and alkaline media at high temperatures of 150 to 190.
  • PROCON® fiber is not susceptible to hydrolysis at all.
  • PROCON® fiber with trilobal cross section increased its fiber surface for good filtration efficiency.

PROCON® is a trademark of TOYOBO in Japan.

  • 高温時の耐薬品性

  • 高温高圧下での加水分解テスト

Technical Information

Simulation of filtration

Simulation of flow velocity distribution (of fiber ceoss section)

<PPS Trilobal (PROCON)>

The blue area of Trilobal cross section is clearly more than that of round cross section.

flow velocity : Blue is slower

<PPS Regular>

*Analysis Method

Software:Fluent 18.0(ANSYS/USA)

2 Dimensions Isothermal Steady-state Analysis

<Velocity Down Area (Blue) /without fiber>

Blue Area:less than 0.015m/s (=0.9m/min)

Compared to round cross section, Trilobal cross section has about 35% slower velocity area.

Simulation of particle collection/Needlefelt

  • <PPS Trilobal (PROCON)>

  • <PPS Regular>

Regarding with filtration efficiency, Trilobal cross section is better than round cross section.

VDI 3926(ISO 11057) Filtration Test Result

1.3dtex Trilobal PPS fibers were laid on 2.2dtex PPS needlefelt and tested for VDI.

  • <Dsut Emission (VDI)>

  • <Cycle Time(VDI)>

By using Trilobal PPS fiber, it was obtained that dust emission is significantly improved.
In addition, the cycle time becomes longer, and low pressure drop can be expected.

Disposal of used bags

Both PROCON® and P84 filter bags after using can be disposed in house incinerator as main gases generated in combustion are CO, CO2, NOx and Sox, not included toxic ingredient such as HF. Also the residue is very lower.

  • The Procedure for the combustion gas analysis is conformed to JIS K 7217, temperature 750.
  • The procedure for the residue after combustion is conformed to the guidance written by Japan Waste Management Association, temperature 600 for 3 hours in air.
