USA, Key West Plant
This plant was originally designed for polyamide hollow fiber modules and contained 110 elements for each of six trains. The facility at the time of start-up in 1981 was the largest seawater RO plant in the western hemisphere. In more recent years two trains have been relocated to Marathon Island to provide emergency water to the Middle Keys while the original location at Stock Island was renovated to operate based on four trains. Most recently "HOLLOSEP®" HB9155PI replacement elements have been installed in two trains (first train in 2004 and second train in 2005) at the Stock Island location. The client has reported that the "HOLLOSEP®" replacements at Stock Island provide superior permeate quality and quantity compared to the original installation. The Stock Island plant obtains the feed seawater of 37,000 mg/l from beach wells.
