Yeast-produced
sustainable
biosurfactant
Contributing to sustainable agriculture
SurfMellow™ is a yeast-produced biosurfactant.
Mannosylerythritol Lipid(MEL), the main component of SurfMellow™ enhances to lower the surface tension on the leaves and improve wettability, spreadability and adhesion.
Reducing the use of
agrochemicals and
lower soil contamination
1
Effective wettability, adhesion and spreading at lower concentrations
2
High compatibility
with microbial biocontrols
3
Less usage of agrochemicals helps to lower environmental burden

By replacing synthetic surfactants with biosurfactants, it is possible to reduce the use of synthetic surfactants.
This contributes to the efficient use of resources and the reduction of environmental impact caused by synthetic surfactant.
Commitment to Research and Development
SurfMellow™ was developed over a period of more than 10 years in collaboration with the National Institute of Advanced
Industrial Science and Technology(AIST).
AIST : One of the largest public research institutes in Japan.
Manufactured in Japan
Toyobo's fermentation technology has been developed over approximately 70 years.
SurfMellow™ is produced through the fermentation process over 2 weeks with fine-tuning manufacturing of conditions
like temperature, pH, and stirring speed.
We also utilize refining methods to ensure the production of high-purity SurfMellow™.
