Message from the President

As a business leader, what I value most is Toyobo Group's corporate philosophy, “Jun-Ri-Soku-Yu” (adhering to reason leads to prosperity). The phrase was one of founder Eiichi Shibusawa’s personal mottos and means, “Do what should be done and create greater prosperity in society.” I believe this philosophy is the foundation that will enable Toyobo Group to remain essential to society.

In recent years, companies have been expected to take on greater responsibility for addressing climate change, advancing resource circularity, respecting human rights, and fostering diversity. Under Sustainable Vision 2030, formulated in 2022, Toyobo Group has been advancing initiatives to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society. We will view changes in the external environment not only as risks but also as opportunities, and pursue sustainable development for Toyobo Group together with society.

Toyobo Group positions “people and organizations”, together with “technologies”, as the sources of value creation and has organized its mechanism for creating sustainable value into a value creation story. This story is underpinned by our core technologies in polymers and biotechnology, our DNA of flexibility and transformation, and a corporate culture that values perseverance and sincerity. We will leverage these strengths to help solve social issues and create customer value by optimizing a diverse range of materials to achieve desired performance through co-creation with customers and collaboration with partners. Through these initiatives, we will create sustainable prosperity for people and the planet while continuing to grow and evolve.
