Toyobo Co., Ltd. will participate in The Packaging Conference 2022, an international conference which will be held in Austin, Texas on February 14-16, 2022. The conference brings together packaging industry professionals from across the world, who will give presentations on the latest technology, design and sustainability of packaging while exhibiting their products.

Toyobo, taking part in the conference for the first time, will exhibit a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin that is manufactured with TOYOBO GS Catalyst®, a polymerization aluminum catalyst, to showcase its excellent recyclability. Also, it will offer a presentation on catalyst technology on February 15.

Under the slogan of “Catalyzing the Circular Economy,” the Toyobo Group will expand the use of TOYOBO GS Catalyst® globally, thus helping to realize the circular economy in collaboration with Thailand’s Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited, the world’s largest PET resin manufacturer, to which Toyobo has licensed the technology.

3. About TOYOBO GS Catalyst®

TOYOBO GS Catalyst® is an eco-friendly aluminum catalyst containing no heavy metals developed by Toyobo in 2002. PET resins produced using the GS catalyst are highly transparent with excellent thermal stability. Also, these resins hardly deteriorate during repeated melting processes, making them well suited for recycling. The GS catalyst has been used for PET bottles for beverages among others. In 2017, Toyobo licensed the technology to Thailand’s Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited, the world’s largest PET resin manufacturer, to facilitate its global use.
